In September 2018, following the destruction from Hurricane Florence, SRM was called to a senior living facility located in Morehead City, NC. The hurricane had damaged large portions of the building including wind damage to the roof and water infiltration through damaged windows and roofing. In total, 76 rooms and areas were affected. While the conditions were challenging, timing and quick response was critical.

SRM got to work immediately. Most local providers were out of resources making it impossible for many competitors who utilize local crews to begin work. SRM was able to use extensive reach-back capabilities and get qualified personnel on site to begin protecting and restoring the property. Adding to the challenge were the conditions of logistics in the area. Roads were difficult to traverse and often closed to traffic, power was off to large portions of the area making lodging nearly impossible to secure, and fuel was scarce within the region.

Even considering these challenges, SRM was able to start mitigation before many competitors were able to access the area at all. In addition, each and every facility affected had to pass air quality tests once restoration was complete. In the end, mitigation, remediation, construction and all required testing approvals were complete on all 76 rooms and areas within the 5 ½ week commitment.

The success of the project would not have been possible without the abilities of SRM to utilize reach-back capabilities in order to provide resources otherwise unavailable, intense commitment to communication and project management, and the highly skilled managers and technicians provided by SRM. The client was extremely pleased with the quality of work, weekly inspections, overall resourcefulness of SRM and the timeline which the project was completed.
